Just before my enlistment and also at MEPS, my recruiter and my jobs classifier had both told me that upon completion of BAT I would have about a 99% chance of going to Ft. Bragg to be stationed with the 82nd. I had a buddy who was with the 101st [the rakkasans], and I was looking forward to having that sort of common ground, not nessecarily with the same unit but the 101st at least.. I may be committing sacrilige here, but what's the difference between the 82nd and 101st, and is there any way that I could be put into the 101st instead? Or is that one of those decisions the Army bases on their needs and not yours?
