| Well, I got a call back from ROTC today and scheduled an interview with Lieutenant Colonel Fox in Eugene next Friday. They said the process would include a face to face interview and another PT Test administered by Battalion officers. I have no idea what tp expect and figured there might be a few P-Net members who have gone through ROTC Interviews or given one themselves. Any ideas on what I might be facing? Tips or Suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

| Your ability to score a 300 APFT will hold you in good stead. I have no doubt you will be prepared for PT. As for the interview itself, be ready. It's been 18 years since I had my scholarship interview, but here's my advice: 1. Make a good first impression. You don't need to go in there sporting whitewalls, but a fresh haircut is a good idea. You don't need a sport coat and tie, but dress in an appropriate manner. The torn jeans and "Punk Rockers Do It 'Till It Hurts" t-shirt can stay in the closet that day. Also read a newspaper or some news on-line that morning so you have some current events to discuss in the inevitable small talk that will arise as the interview gets underway. 2. The questions they ask you will focus on your credentials and abilities as a scholar, athlete and leader. ROTC's mission is to commission the future officer leadership of the United States Army. To earn that commission through ROTC, you'll need to complete your degree. ROTC wants to be sure you can make the grade in college so expect to be asked about your study habits and academic work ethic. If your grades and SAT/ACT scores are below standard, be prepared to address that issue in the interview. If you have to work a part time job, that may be taken into consideration. Be ready to answer questions about how you've shown leadership in high school, either in sports or clubs. 3. You may be asked why you are choosing ROTC. You may not. Be ready to answer that question honestly. A simple answer about preparing to be a leader and serving the US, if sincere, will go a long way with the interviewer (it does with me when I'm serving on OCS boards). A five minute monologue about how the 7 Army Values are the guideposts of your life will seem a little contrived. Keep it short and honest. 4. Bottom line IMO, your grades, test scores, sports/clubs/jobs, and PT score are what will get you the scholarship. A great interview won't overcome any deficiencies in the above categories. That being said, if you blow the interview by sounding like an idiot or sociopath (which I doubt you will judging by your behavior on the board), it could hurt your shot. Good luck

No worries Al, North Georgia is still very much in the running. I'm down to four schools (Oregon, Portland, Washington State, and North Georgia) I'm simply conducting the interview and second PT Test with the U of O Cadre since they are the closest school to do so at. Thanks alot CR6, Lots of great tips and advice there. I very much appreciate it!

I was a tad confused for a second as my first name is Colin as well.
