Not to chance the subject, but when I was at Campbell 1-502 was the best the Screaming Eagles had.Our CSM was the heavyweight boxing camp and a 1 of 12 to get thru Hamberger hill my Plt Sgt spent two tours in man with the 101st and about 75% of our Nco's were airborne and had servered in a airborne unit.I HAVE TO SAY IT WAS THE BEST UNIT I EVER SERVERED IN

So in other words, your CSM was very likely a Rakkasan.

Most units at 101st are great at what they do. Sadly, though, there are very few Airborne qualified personnel at Campbell now in the line Infantry brigades. That's one of the reasons the Old Guard's abundance surprised me so much.

Did you do the ceremony a few months back where some 2 star from friggin latvia or moldavia placed a wreath
on the Tomb? If so, I was the tall guy...
There was a SSG with a 325 regimental crest. I could never get over to him to say "sup?" and offer him a beer or twelve.
I will look you up next time I am in DC...maybe we can hit 5 guys burgers...

I've only done one wreath-laying ceremony. That was in the snow and ice last winter. Fun marching in steel bottomed shoes.

Let me know next time you are in the area.

BTW, for those wondering, in a typical SNAFU I went to formation Wednesday packed for a three week vacation doing guard duty. Of course things got changed at the last minute. Now I'm stuck here for a few more days wasting time on the computer.

Rakk,

Have they started building the new Gym on McNair yet or is it still just a nice picture in the old crappy one?  I find  myself missing that place sometimes.  I had a nice setup when I was there.  I would walk out of my front door and in 3 minutes I would be at work.  Those were the days.

Hey, Rakk, don't forget that Golden Rakkasan's been around here just as long and just been around a long time.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

Actually I didn't forget about Golden, however I think he showed up around 2003. I have been here since 2000. Didn't sign up until 2001 though.

No Rakkasan CSM Hatcher was a Curhee. And as far as the Old Guard goes it seems to me that we got quite a few sp4's from them in the late 70's and early 80's.

Darn near made it there last weekend through this week...tooo much drama after the MSU loss so I had to drink tequila and stare at Ohio girls all night while I watched U of M pull one out of their ass...

I will look you up next time I am in DC!

Do you listen to yourself when you talk; or do you just fade in and out?
