Has anyone heard/seen footage of the tests they conducted on her "survivablity" prior to her destruction this past spring?I understand most info would be classified,etc...but I never saw a clip of her final sinking.

I do not think that there was any public footage available.

My Pop is a Plank Owner of CV-66. I'd never seen the Ol' Man cry until the day I showed him the copy of All Hands where they did the article on her decom.

The relationship between a Sailor and his Ship is a special bond that is difficult for most men to understand unless they've experienced it themselves.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no footage of the tests that has been declassed for public release.

Pingjockey, those of us here understand very well as that bond exists between us and at least one of the units we served in.  I have had to watch as my unit was deactivated one time.
