Most of you know that a few of our members are deployed to the sandbox or the rockpile but did you know that ONE of those members has a wife who's helping support them by running PATRIOT PACKS (http://www.patriotpacksinc.org/)? Our members' ("Tom") wife has been working to send support in the form of care packages and letters and has helped organize a group that accepts troop information so they can target some of these care packages and help spread some back home backup morale.

The thing I like about this is that rather than simply sticking a magnet on the back of a car and SAYING you support the troops, you're actually SUPPORTING the troops. One thing that Patriot Packs is doing is selling Bracelets and Magnets so that they can raise funds to ship items that are donated or purchased. This means that there is something behind those magnets besides giving a few dollars to some mass production place where maybe NONE of the money goes to SUPPORT.

So... in an effort to help support this effort I am openning up a Paratrooper.net Supporter membership drive which is something I havent done for about a year and a half.... those that have sent in recent supporter payments wll stay on Pnet Supporter status... the rest of you Im offering an incentive... if you support Paratrooper.net with a $25 donation, $5 of it will be donated to Patriot Packs.

In addition, if you are a deployed troop, respond here or email me and I'll see that your name is passed to Patriot Packs and if we raise enough money, we'll start sending Patriot Packs to OUR OWN members who are deployed so we can help out those we know!

Paypal users can simply send your support (with a note of your username here on the commo board) to Rigger@paratrooper.net

To mail in your show of support simply email me at rigger@paratrooper.net for the mailing address.

Patriot Packs has a website but it seems to be a work in progress. Feel free to check it out and help in any additional way you may wish. Some of you have been on an extended deployment and you know how important the occational box of goodies can be to morale... lets ensure the deployed troops arent let down.

Mark,

Thank you for posting this.  Kudos to Tom's wife.  My support will be coming soon.

Amy (Tom's wife) contacted me to update everyone, the site is now http://www.patriotpacksinc.org/ and has the bracelets and magnets if you want them.

I REALLY am hoping that we can generate some $$ AND some names of people like RangerRios among others over in the pit that will be able to get some of the goods so please spread the word and help out.

To All:

Patriot Packs is a wonderful group that has done some really good things within my battalion while we have been deployed.  Amy and a group of her friends decided to start this company to help out soldiers with things they need and want while deployed.  I am extremely proud of her and the efforts that she and her friends have made.  It makes me proud to be her husband that she has put so much time in trying to help soldiers while running our business, working full time, being a mother to our children, and doing the things that I would normally do.  She is truly my hero.

I can only say thank you to Mark for jumping in and helping Patriot Packs to help soldiers.  I know that all of you troopers have the strong belief that we are all one big family and will do what you can to help our own.  Thank you so much Mark!  You are a true patriot and friend.

To the rest of you troopers....jump in and help out a worthy cause.  We all know troops who could use a little boost every once in a while.  Also, make sure that you send a few names so that the care packages can get to some of those that you know.

Thank you to all,

Tom

Tom,

Your wife is one amazing woman!  Please let her know that if she needs help with her cause I am willing to send out packages to the troops as well.
