Well I flew back to Iraq on the 25th of June and have been delinquent in checking this thread.  Thanks for all the well wishes and all, and I really wish that I had been checking this because it seems as though alot of us were pretty close together...I headed to Camp Liberty whenever I could because I have a freind there in teh 2-130IN (IL Guard).

But I have better news this time around.  My flight touched down in Providence last night, 30 AUG...MISSION COMPLETE.  I was expecting another month or so overseas but our replacements came in so they shipped us out a little early.

It's odd being done over there...it feels strange.  I can't seem to wrap my mind around not having to go back, but I'm sure I will get used to it.

By the way...the CRC at Fort Bliss sucks.  It took them a week to get a day and a half of processing done on us.  This is primarily because noone is interested in taking care of soldiers there.  Noone works weekends and they all go home at 1600.  Hell, we've been in Iraq for a year, and these people just don't seem to care.  After all (sarcasm)  we wouldn't want them to catch hell from their wives for getting home at 1930...they might miss dinner!!!  They tried putting a no drinking policy on us at Bliss, and that didn't work out the way they hoped...

It's good to be home!

Vo, I know exactly where you are coming from and I too went through the Bliss CRC and I see they have not changed their pathetic ways on taking care of deploying or returning patriots.

You'll get used to being back but when you hear news from over there it tends to take you back, especially when you hear about hooahs KIA.

Glad you made it back in one piece.

It's good to be back.  Thanks to all.

Naturally the first thing I did yesterday was to go out and book an extravagant carribean vacation!  I go in October and can't wait!  I'm off to St. Lucia.

As a side note...SANDALS (www.sandals.com) gives military discounts on the ground portion of their vacation packages.  I got 20% off.  You have to call them directly  to book, and then have to email/fax them a copy of your military ID.  20% a several thousand dollar vacation is no small discount!  I've been to a Sandals before, and let me tell you, its just what the doctor ordered after a year in the dust and dirt.  Oh, by the way, its hetero couples only, no kids.

It's good to be back.

Jim and I went to Sandals, Dunns Falls, last February when he returned from Astan.  We did not get the discount even though I tried.
