A couple of interesting purchases by SOCOM. SR-47 rifle and the 12 gauge breaching module that fits under the M-16. The module is also a stand alone component. The nice thing is that troops dont need to haul a shotgun along on a mission.

As for the shotgun kit mounted under the m16:
This was already tried and was a complete no-go with everyone who tried it. It sucks. I think the first time it was used was in 1993.

The old 'masterkey' combo has been around quite awhile. It's primary purpose is breeching of doors. I've always wondered why the Army just doesn't make a special door breeching round for the M-203. That way every fire team in the US Army would have door breaching ability. All you would need would be either a 40mm discarding sabot slug or a 'bean bag' filled with lead shot.

Good idea Delta.

I bet a training round would do the trick.

Absolutely RickDog,

Or they should start producing the buckshot round for the 203 again.
When I was a TL I had a shotgun and an M4 and it worked just fine. This is just dropping more money on something we really do not need.
Instead they should have invested in some replacement from REI for all the MOLLE **** we got issued.
