It was my first Christmas away from home, and I was at Caserma.Kinda feeling blue.19 years old, missing my family.Well, there was an orphanage near post,in Vicenza,or just outside. They asked for volunteers to go play with the kids, and for someone to be Santa.I went(tho not as Santa).I'm telling you,I had the best time. Those little kids were just beaming;we had got candy, and small toys, and such to give them. They played with us all day,and you just couldn't refuse them;they were too cute, and it was their day, that Sanna Nicolo came.Man,it was great.Did it the next year too.But nothing could beat that first year.Just was a joy.Everyone who did it was a bit, ahem, misty eyed when we left.[ ][82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

Keith, I went to that Orphanage as well. It was so much fun and such an awesome feeling to be there. Those kids did more for me as a Person than I did for them that day. It is a memory I will always carry with me. Those kids just scrambling all over us, playing with them. Here we were these young hard charging Paratroopers and these kids truely gave us a lesson in life. I was only there for one Christmas, and by far my most memorable and meaningful. It was nice to be Bobo Natale per une Giorno!
Bueno Natale!!
I had so many photos of that day lost with all my others. May the Picture in my Head and Heart never leave me.

Keith, yeah there was a Courtyard. We had the party outside there. I will always remember that day as one of the better Christmases. It was good to do something for people you didn't know and especially kids who had no family, no homes. AATW!!
