Hi medics,
The other night I was making some peanut brittle which gets to about 320 degrees. Instead of using the butter knife to scrape off the spoon, I used my index finger. Problem, It immediately dried on my finger in a severe burn. It hurt and cuss words were flying! I iced it the rest of the night for a few hours to where I no longer cried when trying to move it. I now have a pretty big blister almost an inch long on my finger and it gets in the way (rubbing up against my other finger). Is there anything I can do to relive this huge thing? If hubby was home he would pop it. Is that safe? Is there something I can put on it? It no longer hurts, but it is a little tender.

DO NOT POP THE BLISTER!!!!

The epidermis will protect the wound from infection.

Go to the drugstore, Curad makes a bandage created just for blisters. (Advanced Care) Also see if you can get some silvedene burn creme.

That would be a second degree burn, and yes it is safe to pop it. Just dont use the dirtiest needle to do it. If you can get your hands on some Silvadene cream (Silver Sulfadiazene Cream) it works great for burns. But if you are allergic to Sulfa Drugs then dont use it. Hope this helps...
