A bit of information here... http://www.gdls.com/programs/fcs.html Janes had a wonderfull article recently on the subject. Apparently the data aquired during the side by side competition of the Stryker and M113A3 and performance of the differant systems during OIF was not ignored by the industry. With Sitseki no longer in a position to push his BS agenda, it looks as though our next batch of AFVs are going to be just what the doctor ordered.

Tracked FCS, now that is welcomed news. Nevertheless, problem of survivability for the FCS still remains as illustrated below and in the linked Parameters article. The eggs in the FCS basket are askewed towards relying upon advantages in communications technology and agility in place of robust protection or armor. Thus, if FCS is fielded as currently envisioned, it will become a more expensive version or spin-off on the HUMMER "battle taxi" that we now use in Iraq.
