Stryker armored cars headed for Iraq have had "slat armor" added to detonate RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenades) before they can reach the vehicles armor and penetrate it. The slat armor is basically a wire cage around the side of the vehicle. Variations on this have been used since the RPG first entered service four decades ago. Even chain link fencing have been used, and that worked as well.

| Thanks for the pic Fred, but I think this is the 3rd topic showing the Stryker 'bird cage' armor. This 'armor' also apparantly serves as a roll bar and training wheels as well.

You know, if you parked that POS self propelled billboard up next to an M1 Abrams tank, the Abrams would look like a Honda Civic in comparison.[thdown]
And this target is 'supposed' to be great for urban warfare? LOL!!
But on the bright side, the Stryker may not make a bad Christmas Parade Float though. Either that, or the Dept. of Corrections could use it for a self propelled jail cell.
