I'm new to the NCO business but this article hits home.
I've already copied this and sent it to the other NCO's in my unit.

Thank you.

While I never met the man but think he should be a role model for all NCOs just based on what little of his writing's I have read.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

There are "recommended" reading lists that have been published by the Army for the junior enlisted, NCOs, and Officers. This article by CSM Purdy should be at the top of all three lists.

Must've been the same man that said the following about CSM Purdy: He said,"Sergeant Purdy, I hated to hear you come in, in the morning, and some times I just flat hated you, but I would follow you to hell with gasoline drawers on."
