I've got quite a few friends that are in that unit that I'm keeping in contact with via email. Hopefully they prove everyone wrong and kick ass with that vehicle.

The brigade’s Stryker vehicles and other equipment arrived Nov. 12 in the port of Kuwait on board the USNS Shughart and USNS Sisler after a three-week voyage from Fort Lewis, Wash., via the Port of Tacoma.

WOW! I'm impressed, that's rapid deployment! LOL!!!![:o)][dunce][8]

Maybe they should have just loaded those ships with extra M2 Bradleys instead.

Let's see, they've known about this deployment for months now, but the Strykers are still painted green. WTF?

On a serious note, I hope that all SBCT troopers make it back home alive at the end of their tour.

Pitbull, I do not doubt the ability of the Troops assigned to do their duty at all. I doubt the ability of that Vehicle to perform as promised. I believe it was politicaly motivated and the wrong choice vehicle wise.
I hope and pray that they do not become the coffins many believe them to be.

I too, doubt the ability of that vehicle. About 75% of the people in my MOS are in that unit, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

IED's make all vehicles in Iraq potential coffins. They have taken out everything from the M1, Bradley to Hummvee to trucks. The Marine LAV's during the Iraq campaign faired rather well in the RPG infested
battlezone. Rather what is key for all vehicles are the tactics used.
We are running alot of vehicle convoys over one main MSR and several branch supply routes. All need to be constantly swept for IED's. The Stryker is going to be used more for security patrols around the Iraqi border so it should perform well. I think you will see the Stryker get a 25mm upgrade. The .50 cal while a good weapon just cant compare to the chain gun particularly with DU rounds.

What MOS would that be? Tire changer or computer repairman? []
