It doesn't seem like a lot of people check this area out... but that works for me! I am very new to this... my boyfriend shipped out September for Basic at Ft Benning, GA. I'm going through withdrawls and half confused/ half freaked out by the things he writes.
Any advice? Comforting thoughts? (<- Ha.)

Help your bf out by writing him letters. My bro lived off of all the letters we sent him. I live more than 1700 (She's in TX, i'm in MD) miles from my girl and don't get to see her but every two months. Not exactly the same siuation you're in, but over the course of the year/years it gets stressful. Writing and sending cards, even if you just sign them makes it a little bit better. My advice, go buy a whole bunch of cards, pre address & stamp them to be ready to go, and then send one every week or week and a half. You don't have to write pages and pages. Just getting mail in general is good...except for those damn bills...
Also, for you. Keep yourself busy. Nothing can kill a relationship like idleness. Go take a class or volunteer whatever. Just make sure you concentrate on the long term goal and don't concentrate on the short stuff like how much you miss'em.
And frequent this site b/c it rocks and there are plenty of guys out here willing to lend some advice or listen to your concerns. I've asked for advice and got a swift kick in the ass which was exactly the right motivation I needed.

Lots of commo, lots of patience, and you're somewhere around the middle rung of the ladder now. Not by choice but out of necessity. Just remember it won't be forever and it'll pay off in the end.

Message from the WEBMISTRESS!!!!
Just remember he is doing this because he loves you. He is defending your country. You were given some good advice already here, I hope that you take it. Start thinking about making life as normal as possible. And remember that what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.
Welcome to our site.
Are you really 13?

I have bought out all of the 99 cent cards there are. That is a great idea, PlasticArmyMen. I mail two out a week. I don't write much, but it means alot to the men. (Although, you probably won't ever hear that). Be patient, understanding and VERY proud of what he is doing. Make sure you give him space when he needs it and plenty of buddy time when he gets home.
