Okay, I just got past the medical issues and took the ASVAB and physical just a few days ago, and all went very well. Next step is getting a few waivers out, then I will be going to meet with a councellor. I have a question that my recruiters don't seem to have an answer to. I'd like to get some more info, so I don't look like an *** in front of the councellor when I'm trying to negotiate my contract.

A little background...
Well, technically I am prior service. I was in the NG for less than 2 years. I enlisted in 1990 when I was 17, and did split-op training. I went to basic that summer, and was supposed to go to AIT the following. But between training I was in a car accident and had my spleen removed. To make a long story short, I ended up getting released without having gone to AIT, and total service was officially 1yr 8 months.
I got an RE3, entry level discharge, uncharacterized.
That is the waiver I am submitting.

The question I have is about what I can get in my contract. I have read that prior service can't get schooling in their contract, so I wouldn't be able to request BAC. I have also been told that I could request a duty station (I want BRAGG), but I was also told I might not be able to do that either.
I'm just wondering what I am eligable for, so I don't get to the councellor and be like "no I wont sign without Airborne in the contract, see ya later", and look like an *** because I REALLY COULDN'T get it in my contract.
Personally, I nver really considered myself prior service, since I never finished training, but the military sees it differently.
Any input would be appreciated.
Again, thanks to everyone here, it has realy helped in gettin back in.

Pretty much being prior service you are at the needs of the Army. However it doesnt hurt to ask for the job and or duty station you want. The most they can say is no. I know when I came back in there was nothing being offered to me. After a few phone calls I had a job.

well when i came back in they shot me through all the testing had me sit there all day then called me in 12 hours later and had a contract for me to sign to leave out then and there to ft bragg.  Now i was a rigger, so i had no option to change cause they needed riggers.  So i said well you can atleast give me a choice of duty station, they said they ll give me whats open which was benning or bragg.  I said ok bragg but im not leaving tomorrow wait till after the holidays as it was 13 dec. they said we need you to go before the year is up so go now or we wont get you in till may. So i left in a week to bragg with a 3 year contract and a 2A bonus (3 years is the only amount of time they allow for prior service)

being prior service but having an entry level discharge means you are called a DOS, days of service prior service. what that means to you is that as long as you mentallt and physically qualified for a certain job and a vacancy exists than you should be able to get that job.
