I use these lists.

http://siadapp.dior.whs.mil/personnel/CASUALTY/gwot_reason.pdf

1652 dead and 15,258 injured from IED's in both OIF and OEF combined.

That is out of 3672 dead and 25,941 injured total.

IED's appear to be the biggest threat.

I also wonder about the second biggest category, Not reported/unknown/miscellaneous/ which accounts for a 396 deaths and 5860 injured.  Seems a bit high.  That's 11% of the deaths and 23% of the injuries.  The list covers quite a few of scenarios, so what is happening to these people?

What does those figures have to do with the Stryker?  My husband's best friend was not in a Stryker when he was blown up from an IED

Those numbers caused the formation of JIEDDO, the Joint IED Defeat Organization who claimed in a 09/2006 Congressional report that there has never been any IED death on a Stryker.  Just trying to check the veracity of that statement to determine how well JIEDDO has accomplished their task.  It appears they spent an awful lot of money in research, but have produced little that effects troops in the field right now.  Their mandate was to help the IED threat now.  It seems that instead they maybe overshot the mark.

Who cares about the claim that no soldier has died over there from an IED while riding on a Stryker.  I don't know if that is true or not...but I do know that IEDs have been made big enough over in that dump to take out an entire BFV, M1 Abrams, or USMC LAAV.  Those IEDs could have easily also taken out a whale Stryker.  Also how many brigades at any given time in Iraq have had the benefit of convoying in BFVs or Strykers?  Very few.  SBCT bs never ceases to amaze me.

Actually that is the number of posts that were remaining after one of the upgrades.  He was over 10,000 at one point.  His new HH6 apparently keeps him on a short leash.  Dale showed her the errors of not doing that.

Gotta say something else on this topic.  Unfortunately I do know that entire Strykers have been lost to VBIEDs over there.  That is also a form of improvised device in Iraq and they come in all "shapes and sizes".  The whale is not the invincible vehicle some in the army want us to think it is.  No armored vehicle is...light or heavy.  And again...not everyone in Iraq has had the benefit of moving around in Strykers, BFVs, M113s, M1As, LAAVs, LAV25s, etc...Most convoy over there in HMMWVs and trucks.  Strykers have performed OK in the SOSO environment of Iraq...however...as we have stated before we may have to face foes in high intensity linear combat in the future.

Red6, you are a no-go at the inprocessing station.  There is no information in the bio in your profile and you have not opened a topic in the new personnel reporting section to introduce yourself.  Drop and knock out 50 and then move out and report properly.
