I think that is what He may be talking about when he talks about predestination. After we had accepted Christ as Lord and Saviour that he now predestinates or expects us to live for him telling others of our relationship? By the way thanks Dan for bring this thread back to life!

All I did was ask a question. God stirs hearts to join in and I praise His Mighty Name! Anyway, it sounds like you have the grip of things, Sticky. God's plan from eternity was to have a people for Himself who would bring Him honor and glory! When we make the right choices and truly follow in the footsteps of the Master, we do just that. But there is a basic difference in the character of our obedience and that of every other religious system on the planet. God Himself lives in us by His Spirit and personally motivates us!
"..for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure." Philippians 2:13
Christianity is is about Jesus Christ living in us and not a religious system. When religious systems failed, God sent His Son.

I have started a personal study on this. The churches of Christ
don't speak/preach much on this. I think it's because it's looked
on as not neccessary for salvation.
I tend to agree but I also believe that if you want a more personal
closer relationship to the Father, you will study all things about HIS mercy, grace, love and wisdom.
RC Sproul has written a book on this, I think it's entitled "God Chose Us". This is where I have started but it's interesting to note the first scriptures used come from Ephesians and Romans. The New American Standard bible uses the words "predestined." So that right there tells me, Paul was writing oh so long ago, God knew and knows all things. It's up to us to draw closer to Him to have more wisdom and understanding.
This is off topic but has anyone seen or heard from Chap. Woods, lately?

I'm still here cause the LORD is not done with me. I don,t know what he still wants with me but when I am done doing what HE wants, I'll be taken off this earth.
The older I get the more I know how little I knew when I knew it all.

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will counsel you and watch over you.
God has a plan, but you need to be paying attention to his word in order to execute!

EXACTLY!
But how do we first pay attention to HIS word? By being in it. Unless we are in every day and acting upon what we read, we will never be able to draw close to HIM.
Intellectual knowledge of the Bible is not enough. It will never be enough. We have to be putting it in action.
My brother is having this kind of difficulty right now. He has a lot
of intellect and even very versed in the scriptures, but sits around debating the scriptures instead of acting upon it. He will never see the beauty of our Savior, again, unless he first gives up self and allow Christ to open the eyes of his heart. All of the questioning and doubt came about when my daddy died and my brother was the one to find him. This was after an argument. So the pain is deep.
While I have this subject up. Please keep him in your prayers. It
grieves my soul to see him struggling so much. He is a confessed/baptized believer but has become all turned around and is seeking wisdom from areas other than our Father. It grieves my soul even more knowing that he is the spiritual leader of his home and without coming back to the Cross, he is in danger of leading his bride away from God. Please keep them in your daily prayers.
Gentlemen, remember: As the spiritual leaders of our homes, we have the double responsibility of our famalies and we will be held accountable.
