I posted this here,as I felt it was appropriate. My question is this:Is BNCOC's(and ANCOC's and PLDC's,too)curriculum a standardized TRADOC approved one?Meaning are they the same at each post,or does each post put their own "emphasis" based on the particular units at their post?I went through BNCOC at Polk in 87;quite frankly,I enjoyed it immensely(I graduated top 20%-"exceeded course standards").I don't recall any extra emphasis being placed on "Mech" leadership..Has this changed? And if so,how has the NCO schools changed?[82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

i went to infantry bncoc in oct 01..was very surpised to have women in my class. They were there for the first three weeks of class and then went to their mos specific bncoc. I know overseas, they are trying to institute teaching the first phase of bncoc at home station. Bncoc was a very easy course but it was good to hang out with other guys in my mos and compare and learn from eachother

The way I remember it,the first half was classroom-heavy on the ethos and leadership of the NCO;the second half was on concentrated on field craft-land nav,etc intrinsic to our MOS-I was an 11B.We did overnight stuff, and finished up with a like a 2-3 day FTX.Good school.[82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

BNCOC has always been in 2 phases, the common core (MOS immaterial) and the Track portion (MOS specific) The course content is the same at every NCO academy as far as the common core. The MOS portion is generated by the proponent agency and has to be approved by TRADOC. The academies themselves have to be accredited by the SMA. Part of the problem with this and some of the differences is that it depends where the NCO academy is. Some installations divert funding for the NCOES to other areas and these academies may not be as high speed as some others. The facilities and equipment may not be up to date because of this. One of the ways they are trying to save money is to have all students complete the common core through distance learning at their home station. Another recent change is that a soldier does not have to pass the APFT to be enrolled, but he will have to pass it before they graduate. It has become like every other test, you get more than one chance. It is a good course, it allows NCOs a chance to be with their peers in a classroom and field environment where they can learn from each other and share ideas.

i thought if you reclassed as an E-5 that you had to attend BNCOC for your new MOS no matter if you had been before or not.

time to look that one up.
