Does the 173rd have any scouts?

Just wondering what airborne units other than the 82nd may have them.

Thanks.

To my knowledge no. The 173rd has its own LRS unit. The only other Airborne scouts that I am aware of is the 1-509th at Ft. Polk. Delta Troop has scouts and armor.

Thanks, 509Trooper.

Can you choose Ft. Polk as a first duty station?

Seems like they would want more experienced soldiers there.

Just curious.  Thanks again.

The 509th needs privates as much as any other unit in the Army. I doubt if there are a lot of 19D recruits asking for the 509th so that would probably be an easier option to get than with the 82nd.

Also, be aware that the 2nd Cav Regiment is also at Ft. Polk. Blacksmith6 or a recruiter can tell you if its possible, but you need to try and get the 509th specified in your contract if you can. Otherwise you could just as easily end up as a leg with the 2nd Cav.

ItalyJumper informs me that the 173rd is due to get some 19D slots in the next few years, probably one of the things being added as part of the transformation to a UA.
