When I got mine in 1984, you could definitely screw up more than once. I think it was 2 times. I am almost positive that I got two no gos and barely passed.

I was a real cherry at the time so I don't feel so bad about it and at least I got it. I know our LT did just as poorly too.

I was "True Blue," but its the same EIB either way. If you double no-goed a station you were gone, or more than 2 retests. Now im "that lucky ******* cherry that true blue'd it."

Sorry about the triple post, I can get my EIB but cant find the delete post button in "edit post."

Congratulations!  That is a great accomplishment for a young PFC.  First try, right?  I'm glad you hang out here, young trooper.

Just wish I had gotten a shot for it.  I am trying to get in on a test with the national guard infantry unit that is local.  Apparantly my unit (Army Reserve Drill Sergeants) won't send me OR help me.  We'll see.

When I went through in '87 you could fail 2 tasks and retest within a short period before you moved on to the next station.  If you No Goed a third you were automatically gone.  If you failed one of your 2 retests you were also gone.  On our sheet they marked our GOs with a blue marker and our NO GOs with red so you could not miss it.  In '88 and '89 I was an EIB grader for the 2/75.

I'm pretty sure I got all go's so I guess I'm 'True Blue'!... still don't remember being able to retest, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen. I was a grader also, in '84 for my mech BN in Germany
