Damn, Airborne school must have really changed a lot since I was there in '87. LOL!!

John, one of those gyms is probably across the street from the Holiday Inn by the airport.[]

Ok....now I get it. It was a simple typo. They meant to say 'go to the Gyn'(use the dictionary if you don't know what Gyn is SgtV)[].

*laughing* I remember many many times closing the bar and still waking up before the CQ hit my door and laughing at the legs as we passed them on the run. Getting in at 1 or 2am and getting up for PT a couple hours later is character building.

Since I was just there not more than a few months ago I'll chip in my two cents...

You start the day at 0500 most of the time. You're usually off by 1700. During jump week you'll be waking up around 0430 for prep for manifest. You miss manifest you don't jump. You're student cadre will keep you squared away the majority of time. The each day on jump week ends differently. They try to have you out by 1800 but sometimes planes take forever to get there or JMPI's take forever, something holds you up. If you're stuck on chute shake out detail you won't get off until 1900 most of the time. Maybe even later.

If you go over the holidays (I had fourth of july off) they compress your schedule and you end up with longer days, but you get more days off come holiday (For the 4th we got off Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun) but that doesn't mean they won't make you train on a weekend, it depends on how your entire CO is doing.

As for drinking... A few rules. 1. Never try to out drink a SEAL or Recon man. 2. Don't hit on the female Sgt. Airborne's in any of the bars in front of their husbands. 3. When you come back from drinking it is mandatory (Especially if you're a Marine) that you scream the entire monolog from Full Metal Jacket "TONIGHT YOU WILL SLEEP WITH YOUR RIFLE...YOU WILL GIVE YOUR RIFLE A GIRL'S NAME...BECAUSE.... you get the idea.

And the comment on everyone being E5+. Not true. You'll see a ton of cadets, privates, specilists, and various "big wigs". It depends I guess. But not everyone is E5.
