PNCOC = Primary NonCommisioned Officer Course.
PLDC = Primary Leadership Development Course.
PLDC in its current form integrated all MOSs so that the entire Army is trained to the same standard prior to making SGT. Unfortunately, gearing classes to the lowest common denominator Army-wide lowered the standards to the point where very little useful stuff was taught to Infantrymen. The course was a joke for most Infantrymen I knew.
When I went to PLDC in Germany our instructors were required to read lessons directly from the Program Of Instruction that had been blessed by the SGM's Academy. They were not allowed to rephrase or explain anything. When a student didn't understand something, the instructor wasn't allowed to do anything but reread what the student didn't understand. Some of these young soon-to-be-NCOs had military 9-5 jobs in an office somewhere and the Army stuff we were learning was totally foreign to them. Maybe it's different now, but at the time Infantrymen weren't exposed to very much that they weren't already proficient in. Most of us viewed it as a Drill and Ceremonies refresher course.

PNCOC = Primary Non Commissioned Officers Course PLDC = Platoon Leadership Development Course
With the advent of the All Volunteer Army DA created a system of schools for Soldiers to learn how to fill the NCO slots in the grades above them. By the time I entered the Army a Spec4 had little chance of being promoted to Sergeant without having successfully completed PNCOC. The courses used to be MOS specific.
This system went on up the NCO ranks with BNCOC(Basic NCO Course) for Sergeants before promotion to SSG; ANCOC(Advanced NCO Course) for SSG before promotion to SFC; The First Sergeants Course for SFC before promotion to MSG/1SG; and the Sergeant Majors Academy for MSG/1SG before promotion to SGM/CSM.
At some point the Army stopped giving waivers for those being promoted who had not attended the Course for their next promotion. But as I understand it there was a conditional promotion for those who had not attended. The Soldier could be promoted conditional upon his successful completion of the requisite course within a year. The current deployments are forcing the Army to revamp its policy on the NCO courses.

SRiley is right. I quoted Knibb High School's Principle (Billy Maddison) when I graduated "PullDick" by saying, " I am now dumber having had to listen to this."
And the Lord spake forth unto the heavens and said, "LET THERE BE AIRBORNE." The earth did tremble and quake and the waters did rise up and the clouds did part and there came forth a multitude of parachutes that filled the sky. God looked down and saw this was good. And they were good; They were AIRBORNE!

I guess I may a little old school, as I went to PNCOC. Back in the day, only infantry, armor, FA, engineers and other combat arms units went there, and everyone else went to PLDC. It was pretty good, and even challenged the tabbed guys from 2nd Batt. Changes are happening with the entire NCOES system. Someone finally figured out that BNCOC Phase I Common Core and ANCOC Phase I Common Core were duplicitous. As of now, ANCOC Phase I will not happen anymore. As far as conditional promotions are concerned, it has stopped. There is such a funding backlog and non-utilized school rate due to deployments, the rules have changed. Basically, now PLDC is needed to be completed before a soldier can be considered for SSG. There will be many changes down the road overall for NCOES, including the consolidation and reduction of courses. PLDC is changing its MOI to include more like the old PNCOC. MOS specific tasks will be seperated, ect. I have recently run two BNCOC, one ANCOC and have utilized a lot of PLDC slots for my soldiers. It is a pain in the ass, but good for my organization.
