| Can someone explain the airborne physical and when they administer it. Is it before signing the contract, or before shipping out?

When I was in, the Airborne physical was given right before you left AIT for Jump School.

Not trying to be rude........but what does it matter.....either your fit to jump or not.

@LRRSscout, Well, I never really gave my intentions for asking, but it is something I have heard about and have not been able to find any information on. In regards to whether it matters, it does matter in a way, in the sense that I would not want to waste anybody's time or my own pursuing an option that I physically could not participate in. If I wasn't fit to go airborne, I would accept that, but it would change my decisions on contract wording, which I read here frequently, is important. Sorry if the post was vague, I was just asking a question on something I was not familiar with.

Thats easy for some one who has already been through the process to say. But hell the man just asked a simple question about the Physical. When I was getting ready to go in many years ago I asked a hundred questions. I guess you never were introduced to the verbage "A stupid question is the one thats never asked"

Voltaic, fire away with any questions you may have. That is the rason we have a recruiting forum here. for people who are not as well versed in the process of joining the military. We would like to encourge the questions and help you make the best possible decision. It is possible that you have had some prior injuries that you are afraid may DQ you for Jump School. If that is the case speak up.

No no no.....I may have come across wrong. I am not being an @$$ (even though it may look it). All I am saying is...."what does it matter if the physical is before, during or after?"......by saying that I mean.....either you can pass the physical or you can't. The question did not refer to the qualifications of the physical. Either way I don't remember. The qual. for the physical are what they are (whatever that maybe) and regaurdless WHEN its given you'll either make it or not. I think maybe what he wants to know if his position or disposition will nulify him of going or completing the course. My comments of just denying everything is the best way around anything in the ARMY (IMO). They have the strangest things to ask and what you have to do to join. I remember my younger brother was going to join the Army.........they asked him if he took meds.....I had already told him to say NO! I went over this with him 100 times..... When they asked.....he stumbled......I poked him.....the SSG started grilling him telling him all sorts of crap about lying.......my little brother broke down and said YES! Dumb ass.........my little brother was taking Tetracycline for pimples on his face........the Recruiter said he had to quit taking the meds for 30 days before we could proceed with him. Big ol dumb ass.........I told him he ought to join the Navy, cuz after telling him EXACTLY what to do, he deceided to do his own damn thing! I was pissed........ Soooooooo...........lets rephrase the question so that we can help.......because I don't think WHEN you take that physical is going to help you...(I maybe wrong). Good luck!
