Just a quick question I was always wondering about...
Lets say a National Guardsmen has a 6 year contract..
Now he can be deployed for a maximum of 2 years....Now is that PER deployment or is the MAX for that 6 year contract???
What I am getting at is if someone can wind up serving 6 years of back to back deployments????
I can do a year in Iraq as that is the current time of deployment...but getting sent back to Iraq over a period of 6 years can be a bit much..but is that possible???
I know I had 9 lives since I was a kid....I am down to 2 left, so I don't want to push it too much

| The way I understood it was that the contract is for the length of time stated, and any training was a minimum requirement. Once activated the times and locations were not a factor. This particular activation is for two years, even though the deployment is for one. And even that 2 year activation/ 1 year deployment is on a case by case basis. Not all units or individuals are doing the same things. So the way I see it, once you are activated, you are activated for a certain period, to deploy or not deploy as needed. Not much different than active duty. I think it is possible to do back to back deployments for six years, but I would say highly unlikely.
