I dont see anything wrong with the Marines but I do not want to spend six months at sea. Marines are attached to the NAVY so they spend alot of time at sea.
Thank You Viking, my thought exactly. As expressing in the family hertitage threads there's a lot of Army in my family. When I signed up, the former marines and navy guys gave me grief about it. The six months at sea was the first adn foremost reason

Technical field, esp. computer, IT, I would say Navy. Thats what my baby brother did and still does. Med field, USArmy, hands down. Marines, well you get what they give you so you could end up with anything, some good, some bad. But like everyone said if you want Elite of your choice, USArmy Ranger, SF or ABN would be it.

Alright stud. I will chime in now. As most members know, I have served in the USMC and the NG. You really don't seem to be looking for advice on which branch to join because you have already made up your mind. Are you looking for this board to tell you that your choice was good? Your post says you have made the choice to enlist in the Army. Did you? Or are you telling us what you plan to do? Either way, to be blunt with you, I don't think the Marine Corps is a good fit for you.
Now, for anyone else who reads this, if your goal is to walk in off the street and be high speed, low drag,(Infantry of course) get an Army contract that guarantees you will have the opportunity to attend RIP, SFAS, and of course BAC.
If you want to be a Marine, join the Marines. Period. The Corps doesn't really want a whiny eighteen year old who is going to bitch about what his job is going to be when he hasn't even gone through recruit training. God, Corps, Country. Not MOS, college money, duty station, homelife, then the Corps. I am pretty sure if you want to be a Marine, infantry will not be too hard to secure in your contract.
I am a fan of both the Marine Corps and Army. Certain folks belong certain places. I have no doubt that a good portion of troopers on this board would have been good Marines. On the same token, they made the choice that gave them the best opportunities to be the type of soldier they wanted to be.
Ball is in your court now. WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE???? THERE IS NO WRONG ANSWER!!
"Your Marines having been under my command for nearly six months, I feel that I can give you a discriminating report as to their excellent standing with their brothers of the Army and their general good conduct."-General John J. Pershing, U.S. Army
