Gonna let you guys decide this one. They keep telling us we can't send anything "pornographic." Okay, not like I'd send my son the latest "Hustler" anyway. (does that magazine even exsist anymore?)
But their version of pornographic is pretty strict for stuff going to Iraq- not even semi-nude is allowed. I sent the SI swimsuit issue and no problems with that, but I think they were still in Kuwait at the time, not living and working with the general public. Now daughters class wants to send a letter and some magazines and all that and they were thinking "Maxim" and along those lines. Would cheescake stuff like this be cool or should they stick to SI and general car magazines and be safe. Honestly, after reading the wording on restrictions, I'd be afraid to send an issue of "People" for fear some actress wold be wearing a swimsuit.

A friend of mine says his guys got all their subscriptions, including Maxim and Playboy. Maxim and FTM seem to be OK with everyone, some say yes to Playboy others no.
But what are they gonna do to him - send him to Iraq?

Maxim was all over the place in A-stan. Unfortunately, it ultimately depends on the whims of whoever is censoring the mail, but Maxim seems to be about the limit.

To be honest I personally believe that if you are going to spend the money on a magizine like Maxim spend it on pocket book fiction. Weight wise, size wise and cost wise you can get more bang for your buck by buying paperbacks.
In most cases they don't really care what they read, they just want something to pass the time away. Paperbooks fit into the pocket of the BDS and the rucksack much better then a larger magizine.
Just my $.02.

Your Daughters class? What class is that? Your his mother? Good lord, there is a god. Im sure he'll really apreiciate whatever you send him. All the girls over there seem to dress in burkas.
--------------------------------------------------
My daughter said they were discussing 9/11 in class today and somehow it got brought up that her brother is in the Army and currently in Iraq. So the teacher thought that it would be a cool class assignment for tomorrow for everyone to write a note to him and bring a munchie or a magazine or something to send over. (which he will love and be embarrassed at the same time; whenever anyone but family does this he gets all "how did so and so even know, this is no big deal, being here is nothing special.." he hates being singled out, especially since he graduated only a year ago from the same high school.)
But the books are a great idea, I have a box ready to go and I'm sure they'd appreciate even more, I'll suggest that. And as long as no one gets in trouble for the magazines we'll send those too.
Thanks
Carey
