I have two young Canadians who want to enlist down there. They're running into static. Details to follow, stand by.

from their messages: the recruiter said we need green cards before we can start the application process, thats nothing new to us, but we basically have no shot at a green card unless we are either duel citizens, have a sponsor in the us, have a needed profession... we have none of the above, also the green card lottery is closed to Canadians unfortunately. I also called the USINS office in Washington several times. I asked about getting a student visa and taking some sort of schooling down in the US and applying for a green card that way, but I was told it isn’t possible. I also asked if I could get any kind of visa, move to the US, and live with friends and apply for one that way. The reply I got was there isn’t any "options open"... Now, I know of 6 people who simply drove to the States and enlisted. No green card, sponsor, anything. One of them had no prior military service. He's from my home town. Another was a Canadian Reservist. Another was from southern Ontario. I met him while he was in the 509th. I've told them about this thread and they should be checking in soon.

Here's what they need to do.
Fly down to Mexico, get a nice tann, change they're names to Sancho and Poncho, sneak across the border, wait a few months, and they'll get amnesty and a green card!

How about 'cataract medicine'?

Driving down to the US and enlisting is not possible. Anyone who is not a US Citizen must have an INS 551 card to enlist. To make extra sure, I checked with the difinitive authority, otherwise known as my First Sergeant.

Thank you, ma'am. I was hoping you'd be cruising the site soon. By the way, I just sent you an e-mail asking for your help. Feel free to delete it without opening.
