John, you are right. Tangos do use that excuse here a lot. We were briefed today on this by the S2 and they are still investigating the engagement.

I wouldn' doubt the Tango's did the fireing just so the colition would attack ! Life is that cheap too them ; atleast as long as it's someone else besides them that is . It's the same ol' B.S. They know they can gain more (ground) aid & support from the Lib's/ media that they could ever gain by standing & fighting! They know there about done ; and the deadline is comming up' fast ! The new iraqi gov. isn't going to pussyfoot around with them like we have had too . Plus' the new law makers will have our support on the ground . The normal iraqi people will have had enough of the tango's B.S. ; and will want them gone for good ! Syria & Iran are letting ther people go into iraq to kill our troops anytime they please ! Who is helping the foregin insergents get in the country ; Who's giveing them Arm's & papers that allow them to carry out attack's They have used that wedding excuse too tomany times IMO ! If they don't what probably will happen when they start fireing weapons by Now' then they aren't very damn smart ' now are they ! Political Ploy's for the media !

More news comes out and it turns out there were passports and lotsa cash. Hmmm. MAybe we should carry cameras on attacks or raids to have a record to refute the 'blind left-handed kids orphanage' stories that come out. Like the cameras in patrol cars. When the cops here first got cameras, the head of the United Way sent a letter to the Chief saying the cop who gave her a ticket threatened and scared her and was generally rude. His car had a camera. The local news people asked her about his behavior -on camera- and she said how rude he was and how shaken she had been. They showed her the tape where he probably said 'maam' ten times and wished her a nice day at the end. She said she might have been mistaken and ws forced to resign within two weeks. Cameras can be a really good thing.
Go with God, but make Him walk the point.
If you load a mudfoot down with a lot of gadgets he has to watch somebody a lot more simply equipped - say with a stone axe - will sneak up and bash his head in while he is trying to read a Vernier. - Robert Heinlein

"Cameras can be a really good thing." Every patrol, man, every patrol. Every patrol, every raid, every meeting. I thought it was something we were copying from you guys. Guess it was the Brits, again.

This is what Debka had on this today . Quote; Washington: US helicopter strike alleged to have struck wedding party was directed against safe house in al Qaim 25 km from Syrian border occupied by foreign Arab fighters infiltrating Iraq from Syria, who fired at helicopter. Coalition ground forces found quantities of explosives, foreign passports, 2 m Iraqi and Syria dinars and satcom radio. Iraqi sources claimed more than 40 killed. International Red Cross condemns US military for using excessive force in incident. Let's not be too quick to judge our guy's of any wrong doing !

"Coalition ground forces found quantities of explosives, foreign passports, 2 m Iraqi and Syria dinars and satcom radio." Doncha know, those are traditional wedding gifts in Iraq. [sarcasm off]
