To all,
I am living in Seattle ( not raining yet) and attending the University of Washington as a 3rd year Air Force ROTC cadet. I am looking into being a "skycop" and going where that takes me.Anyone in Security Forces out there drop me a line, I would like to ask ALOT of questions.
cheers

is your det. pretty high speed (for ROTC)? Some of the cadets at Det. 860 are pretty stupid (some are pretty nice guys too). Like this one time a 100 (first year cadet) comes up to me (im the 1SG in my CAP squadron) and goes of on me about not teaching my cadets proper C&C, and he had to correct them. He said he didnt get a salute when he walked past a few of my cadets outside. Just then a AF Lt. Col. Walks by my guys outside, they snap to attention and give salutes. I give the cadet a WTF are you talking about salute and ask him, "Are you a commisioned or warrent officer in the USAF? Have you finished Field Training? he answers no to both. I said, I know of no CAP regulation that requires CAP cadets to salute first, second, third or fourth year ROTC cadets. Only commisioned and warrent officers, MOH recipents, Commander In Chief, and the flag are named. Then I told him to leave my cadets alone, as he is not in their chain of command and they wont listen to him (unless its right). The funniest thing was this was the day that 100's are issued their first uniform etc...
five minutes ago I had just got saluted indoors by some. Its kinda funny how they change (or can change) in a few short years, I had just met this brand new 2Lt at Hill AFB the week before and he seemed liked a squared away guy.
That was the most increadably random thing in the world, caught me totally of guard.
Holy crap, im rambling.
pain is temporary, glory is forever and chicks dig scars, SO MOVE OUT AND DRAW FIRE!!!

Cherry,
I would say that my detachment is very organized. It's only as good as you make it. We are currently cadet HQ for the NW aswell. As far as CAP, I never got involved as I never wanted to be a pilot. Also, most kids who get involved in ROTC are very young, don't know alot about tradition and are bound to make mistakes. For kids to get bent out of shape about salutes they should calm down and realize they are in ROTC, it's not like active duty at all. I know I've learned alot by making mistakes and being corrected.
