Individual Mobilization Augmentee
An Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) is a Selective Reservist who reports to an active duty unit, not a traditional reserve unit. You do your two days per month and two weeks per year minimum when the active duty is unit is working. Recent retirees are now eligible for this program and you could be assigned to any unit with your AFSC, but you can't get an assignment. Most PR/ST IMAs are working about 75 days per year but some, voluntarily, are working near full time.
Air Force Special Operations has immediate needs for Individual Mobilization Augmentees in the following specialties:
Officer and Enlisted
Combat Rescue (PJ/SERE) and Pararescue
Special Tactics Officer (STO) and Combat Control
Combat Weather
Successful applicants MUST have prior MILITARY experience in the officer or enlisted AFSC and MUST agree to maintain currency and qualification in that specialty. For more information contact:
For more information or to talk to someone about your specific situation, contact Reserve Recruiting at 1-800-720-STGP or Special Tactics Reserve Force Management: MSgt James Alderisio (850-884-4251) james.alderisio@hurlburt.af.mil
Active Duty getting out of the service can contact your MPF In-Service Recruiter. If you are out of the service or in the reserves, contact an AFRC Recruiter about the IMA Program.

Hell I'm willing to cross train to weather if I can keep my stripes. Already jump qualified with an Infantry background.

It's not available to cross-trainees, because there's no money available for cross-training of non-quals.
If you look closer (AKA - PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AIRBORNE!), you will see that one of the requirements is to have prior experience in the AFSC.
BUT - I'm sure there are aircrew positions available there, if you're interested in those.
Shoot me your resume, and I'll be glad to forward it to my POC at AFSOC.

PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AIRBORNE!
Now go back, and re-read the above posts for your answer.
ALTERNATIVELY - You could join up with one of the ANG units, get qualified and serve with them for a while, then apply for one of the IMA positions later on down the road.

JR, I don't think there are any aircrew IMA slots. To much currency to keep up with and they want you attached to a regular flying squadron.
And I did read your post troop, I just figured that if they were that hard up, they'd find the money to cross-train. Give me some credit there Airborne. I have been doing this for over 20 years. Hooah?
