I have been on a quest to find exactly where I was stationed in Korea as a Recon Sqd Ldr (E-5) with the 3rd Md Tk 40th Armor 1st Cav. I posted a thread for help on a topic regarding the Cease Fire in Korea, and thanks to CR6 and thirtyoneuniform giving me some links, I was able to locate the exact location. The problem was that not a lot of pre-1963 information on camp locations in Korea is available and there were two Battalions of the 40th Armor in Korea at the same time just 30-40 miles apart. The 2nd Bn was with the 7th Inf and in North Central South Korea, my unit the 3rd Bn was with the 1st Cav in the North Western part of South Korea. Both Battalions were just South of the DMZ and on 24-7 Alert. Anyway the 3rd Med Tk 40th Armor was stationed at Camp Beard adjacent to RC#1, South of Munsan-Ni and the Imjin River Freedom Bridge. I have also been able to email 3 Tankers who served in the 3/40 Armor in 1960, and even though we did not know each other, we have had some good communications with one another.
