Anyone know the regs covering the wear of National Guard ribbons? Theres a guy in my current unit who was with the CA NG and the OH NG and he was active duty for a while. This guy has like 20 ribbons, I never really counted but an e-6 with 15 to 20 ribbons is some thing to investigate. I asked around and most of them are state awarded NG ribbons. So I know they are legit but do they all carry over? And how would you even know the order of precedence from state to state? I found a few regs that skirted the topic but nothing really covered the transfer and wear of NG awards from one state to another. I didnt know where else to post this so I put it here because wild questions get asked the most here.

im not sure.i do know they hand out the aam like its candy.this was the first year that i went to annual training and they were required to give 3 aam's per sqd.
i was not aware of this when i got there.after about 5 days i was given a coin by the bn. commander. i didnt think much of it and actually ended up giving it to a cherry pvt. whom i thought was doing an outstanding job(should have went active, this kid is super motivated).i didnt think there would be any awards handed out, but to my suprise half the damn company was awarded somthing.i think it kinda takes away from the award.

I can tell you about the OH ribbons. I'm fairly sure if you xfr states that they can be worn, but I'm not sure. They would be annotated on his Form 2-1 and state xfr papers. Let me know about his Ohio ones, even by color, I should be able to tell you what they are.

As far as I know they should transfer. As for order of precedence, I have no clue to which states would preceed another.
