I know this is kind of late, but why was I the only one to catch this?I didn't get to do the towers either for the same reason Mark just gave, but I spoke with a 3rd lieutenant in one of my classes that just got back from BAC and he said he did them....

Does the military have a new rank I havent heard of? 3rd LT? Maybe this is just the officer training coming out.

"3rd Lieutenant" is a possible nickname for an ROTC Cadet who's doing Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) time in a Reserve or Guard unit.

| This sure is an old thread. The 15 year old is now probably in the system somewhere. Anyway, when we went through BAC in '62, we had a "Buddy Seat" ride during PT week. Also, I was on the Parachute Ride at Coney Island several times when I was 8 and 9. So the ride up was not a problem. When we did the 250' towers, I was only able to jump it once. The black hats didn't like the way I landed and told me that I needed to do it again, or not graduate. The chance never came up again, but because I did so well on the 34' door exits, they let me off the hook. I would have jumped the 250 in wind and if it were broken, if that was the obstacle that would have not let me earn my wings.
All the way, sir!!!

JR (1/10/2008) "3rd Lieutenant" is a possible nickname for an ROTC Cadet who's doing Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) time in a Reserve or Guard unit.I am familiar with the rank of 3rd Lieutenant and countries with Third Lieutenant equivalent ranks include: Afghanistan: Dreyom Baridman Iran: Setvan Sevom Turkey: Asteğmen Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Soviet Union: Младший Лейтенант (Mladshiy Leytenant) Armenia: կրտոեր լեյտենանտ (Krtoyr Leytenant) Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan: Kiçik Leytenant Bulgaria: младши лейтенант (transl. junior lieutenant) Czech Republic, Slovakia and Czechoslovakia: Podporučík Estonia: Lipnik Georgia: უმცროსი ლეიტენანტი (Umts'rosi Leytenanti) Taiwan: Wei Ukraine: Молодший Лейтенант (Molodshiyy Leytenant) I have also heard of some bonehead ROTC cadets at a few select idiotic universities to be unnamed for fear of offending some of you knuckleheads referring to themselves as third lieutenants, but none of their military cadre would ever acknowledge such a rank, this is something they came up with on their own in an effort to make themselves feel important and if a real soldier with any common sense runs into one they will drop the idiot for 50 push-ups.

Yep...run,run and more running. We did Push Up's till Georgia should have been pushed to China...This was in 1970 I had never been higher then a ladder or roof top at 17 years old. The 250' towers were very much alive and good training for me. I had never had a ride on an air plane...must less jump out of a C-119..
