Okay, again, this forum is for new recruits to read about going Airborne. Where it says "Recruiting Information" should be your first clue. All you thread hijackers back in your own holes where you can post whatever you want.

| OK, need some poop for my buddies cousin. He's 18 yrs olds and graduated from high school. He really wants to be an MP in an Airborne Unit. I think the recruiters are playing with him. I'm not sure of his asvap score, but the Marines next door are telling him that they can get him MP. He's a bright kid. His only flaw, he has a misdomeanor offense of MIP (Minor in Poss.) from approx. 18 months ago. He's not on prob. or anything like that. He has had a couple of civil driving infractions but other than that, he's golden. The Army is telling him that he can't be an MP based on his MIP. Does that sound acurate? Are they just trying to fill a billet of 11 series? I told him to be all he can be and get the Airborne Infantry with RIP enroute that they promised him. He wants to be a cop more than anything though. His role model was his cousin and she was a cop. She gave the ultimate safrifice in the line of duty. Her husband is one of my best friends who is also a cop. It's her cousin that I'm making this inquiry for. http://www.jessicanaglewilson.com/ Any input would be greatly appreciated.

| You should start a new thread for this, Airborne. I think the Recruiters are telling the truth in this situation. I just went in to the USAR and they told me the background check for MPs was now the same as the background check for a TS clearance. Tell him to go Airborne Infantry with a RIP option, then reenlist for CID after his first tour. That should give him time to put all that stuff that's causing problems behind him and allow them to assess his suitability based on his performance as a Soldier.

Maybe a Secret clearance, but it takes up to a year to get a TS Final nowadays!! What does an MP do that requires a TS??

I am still waiting for my Secret clearence to come back and I submitted it over 8 months ago. MPs have to be able to attain a Secret clearence or they will not be awarded their MOS. I have a couple of young troops in my Platoon who may have to reclass as they cannot get final clearence.
Stand in the door!

Ert, he didn't say they were actually getting a TS clearance just that the background check is the same. When I was in you only got a TS if you were in a slot that required it. I am still waiting for my Secret clearence to come back and I submitted it over 8 months ago. So JM, you are saying that if they question me I should not mention how all the neighborhood dogs run away crying whenever they see you coming?
