Today I go to the supermarket after work to get some grub...... There is a soldier in the next check-out lane, he is ARMY wearing his BDU's ..he has a airborne patch above his left pocket and a black stallion patch on his left shoulder and no other patches or anything... This is Tucson, AZ and typically is a USAF town....So this guy must be from Fort Wachuka...
Now this soldier was a pathetic fat sloppy piece of garbage...His uniform looked like **** and his boots were scuffed, beat and outdated "unauthorized" aluminum eyelet jungle boots made by WALECO...spelling?? The boots look like they have NEVER been polished...He did not look like motor-pool or in the field, so what the heck... The uniform looked like it was NEVER washed and wrinkled the blouse (shirt) was not tucked in , his cover was dirty and out of shape...ect ect....
NOW remember..HE IS IN PUBLIC!!!!! It would be a different story if he was on base being smoked or in the field...ect..
Basicaly this was pathetic and sickening and I wish I was an officer to smoke this guys A$$!!!!
If this is what the ARMY has turned into...then FU## it..It would be a discrace for me to serve with someone like this...I don't want any part of re-enlisting if I have to be around garbage like this!!!
To me, discracing a US ARMY uniform to this level is almost bad as flag burning!!!!!
Didn't have a chance to talk with him, since he bolted before I got to my cashier....
What gives???
Could this be a poser???? If so, then I will kick his ass, even though he is twice my size
Regards
Chris

Black Stallion, eh?
He won't last long, so I wouldn't sweat it.

What was his rank? If he was wearing a patch above his pocket, he was reserve/NG with an active duty affiliation.
There is an OK NG unit (45th Brigade, I believe) that wears a shoulder patch of a black thunderbird on a diamond. The only patch I know of with a stallion would be the 11th ACR (my Dad's old regiment, BTW), but the 11th is an Active Duty unit based at Ft. Irwin, CA. If he was AD he should not be wearing a shoulder patch on his pocket. I wonder if this guy is either an ex-soldier still wandering around in his uniform, or a poser (yes, I've seen both.) Old guy? Young Guy? Did his hair look like it had a military cut?
Hard to make a judgement without knowing some of the details, but I haven't seen even National Guardsmen this sloppy in a long time.

I think that what merrec meant by "airborne patch above his left pocket" was that he was wearing a subdued jumpwing patch. That's how I read it, anyway. Unit patch of "black stallion" (1st Cav or Cadet?) on the left shoulder.
I may have completely misread it though.
Hell, maybe he was out paintballin' with the bros, and that's the uni he picked up at the local GI Joe's.

OK...more info...
The haircut was not a high & tight as I would expect....It was all shaved down like you would have in Boot...it was like the whole head was cut down with a #1....
There was no Guard patch...the blouse had a NAME tag and US ARMY tag in the usual locations above the pockets...
The jump patch that was above the US ARMY tag on his left front pocket was the small one that uses black thread parachute.....then on his left shoulder there was a black stallion on a patch..
Something did not feel right...I can usually tell a soldier even in civilian clothes...it's just a vibe and the look in the eyes...also this guy came off very fidgety and un-disciplined and looking all over the place.... I would say he looked about 22 years old and lucky if he could run down the block never mind a APFT...
I will go back at the same times and try to catch him next time...I will get to the bottom of this...If he gets to be a wise A$$ with me, I will bust his teeth down his throat
I remember in USMC, if the BDU's were faded you tried like hell to use blueing in the wash...else you had to chuck them...I went through my uniform inside and out to cut any looses threads with my nail-clippers....also I always had my BDU's HEAVILY starched like carboard all press creased and pleated...I had scotch guard sprayed inside the BDU's to keep my sweat from wetting the uniform....my cover always had the water-proofing in it incase it rained...Damn it!! My boots looked like they were patton leather, even my field boots.. I wore my uniform with pride at ALL times even in the field..
There are way to many good men that gave the ultimate sacrafice in that uniform..it can not be discraced to what I seen today!!!!

Chris

Well the black Stallion would be the SSI for the 11th ACR out of Irwin as Martin stated.
It was probably just some airsofter or paintballer in something he picked up at the local Army/Navy surplus store.

Or he could be in the AZ Nasty Guard. There are several units in the AZNG that are "roundout" units of the 11th ACR.
check out www.azng.com
FIND THE B*ST*RDS, THEN PILE IT ON !!!
