My brother is completeing his second week of basic training at Ft. Benning.  I enlisted him in the Army back in February, which is pretty cool considering I'm a recruiter.  He's in the 18X program, so he's in for a lot of training.  He should be in Airborne School by June or July.  I'm pretty psyched for him, and he's doing great so far!

Outstanding!

Heh... so your his big sister right? A few months from now when he finds himself physically and mentally smoked, I wonder if he's gonna have a fleeting thought that you talked him into the 18x program as revenge for assorted pranks he must've played on you growing up...

Thank you, I will pass on the good thoughts.  He's a little disillusioned about some of the guys in his platoon, but my brother is older than the average enlistee and is just seeing how guys 18 years old are.  When he was in reception, he wrote about some of the guys in his line, all were funny.   He said he met one young guy named Yang who was from LA.  He told my brother that his dad fought in WWII.  My brother asked Yang how old his dad was, and he said he was 35.  My brother burst out laughing, and said that his dad wasn't old enough to have fought in Vietnam, let alone WWII.  Yang's reply?  "Man, that lying b*tch!"
