I was in the Pnet chat the other day and a discussion was brought up about the physical I will get before I leave tuesday. Now that im under contract what if I fail my piss test not because of any drug use but because I have too much protein in my pee.
The first time I went to meps I failed my piss test the first time not because of drugs because I had too much protein in my urine. They gave me a big orange bottle to pee in for 24 hours. When they sent the bottle into the lab the results came in and I was good to go.
Im worried about not being able to pass the test while im there, and if I do fail it now that im under contract does that mean I get dishonorably dischaged and will never be able to join the army?

No you can't fail a urinalysis for protein. While you are serving the urinalysis is used for the purpose to test for illegal drugs. Now if you eats lots of poppy seeds, like a bag a day you might come back positive.

I dont drink any of those shake things im all natural =).
when I failed the test the first time for too much protein my recruiter said it was the in last year that he started getting more and more of his recruites failing because of too much protein.

Wow,never heard of this,protein?,I dont understand why if your "protein" was high it would fail you,or why the Army would even give a shit? Is this something new?

Casey, there is only one way to fail a piss test, that's to get high on illegal drugs. I think his recruiter was being nice to him and said it was too much protien. Either way, I can't believe if he failed a piss test, they are giving him another chance. Seems like they are taking a risk that he won't do it again.
Thats my take on it. I suppose I could be wrong.

There were two things on my sheet that I noticed in that folder you carry at meps the sugar, and protein numbers were side by side.
After I pissed the first time I went into the physicians office with everyone else after I got done with all the nut poking and duck walking the physician circled my protein part and told me to go back and take the pee test again so I went back and peed again and the pee guy said that my protein level was too high and gave me a orange bottle.
I might of been good the first time and it was too close to tell they use these test strips that change color to detect the protein level
30 and above is too high which is what I had under protein. I got a 28 for the 24hr bottle thing that they sent to a lab.
After I failed the test I went to find out why I would fail with too much protein too so I looked around the internet and most of the sites said if you have lots of protein in your urine it could be a sign of kidney disease or you have an infection in your urinary tract.
