What about sleeping at the train station in Venice
because you missed the last train?

Well,by far the best PT program I ever had was the 09's.Went down to a svelte 165 there...from 204 pre-basic..Yeah,the big square at the top of Bericho was cool;great view as your jogging around it.We usually did Bericho Runs as PLT/SQD pt,which usually ended up as 2-3 man buddy runs. But even then, there was no slacking off.Plus, running in those banana suits was SO hip....[][][82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

Okay....so I'm not crazy. I got e-mails from a bunch of people who wanted to know what "You Might Be Airborne If.....You've ever run P.T. in a banana suit" meant.

The ABCT in Vicenza was the last to recieve the new Army greys for pt gear when I went over. In fact, when I went through basic, they dressed us in the greys. When I went to Vicenza, I had to put them on the shelf, because they still used the bright yellow zippered sweat suits, and the foo-foo Richard Simmons style shorts.
Like almost everything else, the guys closest to the supply room got all the new stuff, and the high speed troopers used the old stuff until it wore out.

As far as the runs and the town of Vicenza....

It was a great place to be. Timeless, really.
The small cobblestone streets and the narrow pathways that criss-crossed all over the city were a wonder to explore.
The history was amazing. Trying to learn Italian was an adventure. Sept's was a great gathering place, but the architecture and humanity that thrived outside is something that drove me to stay there long after my DEROS date came and went.
I chose to stay there. Because I hadn't seen it all, and in a million lifetimes, I probably never will. I like sharing these memories with fellow troopers -- because I sense the same wonder in your replies....
