Does anyone have recent pics of the place?I guess it's changed quite a bit, from info I've gleaned from troopers who were there.I guess the front gate area is NOT where the old one was that I remember. The one I remember was:when you exited the gate, turn right, and Septs would be about a mile or so away at a ^ intersection, with the door at the apex of the ^.Back to the subject. As you came in the Front Gate(with the MP/Carabinieri Shack on the left, you were looking down from what I remember the longest street on Post, ending at the Movie Theatre. On the way down, the support units were up front, and the Dining Facility was on the left.Further down on the right was a large parking area(?),where we used to have our Bn formations, such as PT runs(Not the North 40,where we did the formal stuff).Prior to hitting the Movie Theatre, the '09's barracks area was on the left...The North 40 would have been to left of that,I believe.Upon reaching the theatre,to the right was the the PX,Commisary,Pizzaria area etc...they had just completed the Burger King I believe when I left in '84.From the North 40,to the West and Northwest, and North-you could see the Dolomites.Man,maybe 509 Trooper and some of the mid-80's guys could fill me in with some details that escaped me.But some pics of the new Ederle would be cool![82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

That's pretty much how I remember it K-Dog. You hit all the main features anyway. I'm sure that if I sat here and massaged my two brain cells, I might be able to think of something else, but it would just be minor stuff anyway.

That's back when Burker King was still pretty good, at least better than the greasy spoon that was there when I was there. Keith you described it pretty well, from what I remember. If I remember correctly the Class VI was to the right across from the PX and the Rod and Gun was behind the PX and to the right. Did they still have the stereo store behind the dining facility when you were there?

| That was the first fast food place I ever ate in where you could go back and get your own refills. We got thrown out one night for trying to fill up 5 1 gallon jugs with soda to make trash can punch. They then reported us to our 1SG, so the next two weekends Mahoney had us standing 8 hour shifts at parade rest guarding the soda machines in our Class A's. AHHHH how I miss my days with 1SG Mahoney.

I don't remember a stereo store,Barry.Maybe I just never went there.Recalling other tid-bits,though:Once you hit the Theatre,if you went to your left,on that road was the EM Club and O Club,on the right hand side. And if you kept going, you hit the North 40(I think).Cripes,is everyone's memory shot like mine???Best 2 years of my life, bar none, and I can barely remember the place....[scared][scared][82nd][E6][uswingsr][infantry][scout]

Nope, you got that one right too, K-Dog. If you kept going down that road where the EM and O clubs were, you'd get to the MWR building, and just beyond that, I think that's where the University of Maryland was set up in the Education Center. Go much further, and you'd make a quick right and a quick left, and be headed out the side gate (which was rarely open, except for our returns from Bertesina runs). The road around the North-40 linked up there, and you could take it around the back of the 34-foot tower and the gas chamber. On the other side of the Caserma wall was the Italian prison yard.
Of course, I might be senile at the young age of 33, but that's what I recall.
