No you dont need to bring anything to basic!!!! Just show up, Usually you are given a packing list but thats just for show. You really dont need the items on the list. It is generally created by some REMF who has nothing better to do than come up with obscure items for Joe to bring to training.
If you want to impress the Drill Sergeants and the other recuits bring some smokes and nudie books. This will make you quite popular. Also if you are old enough bring a few liters of you favorite beverage, I prefer good scotch or Crown.

annie, the hooah's don't wear any nderwear under BDU's. i do now but won't when i go back from recruiting. unless it's on a jump. can't catch myself in the leg straps of a chute....
