Hi,
I'm Dzirhan Mahadzir from Malaysia, I'm self-employed so my occupation is three-hatted,first I'm a journalist writing for the Australian Defence magazine Asia Pacific Defence Reporter, second, I lecture militray history and strategy to the tri-service Malaysian Armed Forces Defence College attended by Lt. Col-Col. rank officers and third I work as a defence consultant giving advice and opinion on defence and security issues in Malaysia. I'm here primarily to listen and learn from the opinions and experiences of paratroopers here. No military background save for the fact I'm planning to join the reserves here in Malaysia later this year. My only paratrooper connection is that an uncle was with a Malaysian parachute battalion (8th Royal Malaysian Rangers(Para) Battalion). Feel free to e-mail me or ask questions.

Hi all,
Thanks for the welcome, Paracowboy, I don't know too much about Bali as that's Indonesia and I never been there myself. No problems buying any BTDTs here a round, only catch is that you have to be in my area to collect (serious offer though, if anyone happen to be anywhere in the capital of Kuala Lumpur, do LMK and will be glad to meet up) As for beer available here, I'm a teetollar (sp) but have no issues with anyone who's not, I do notice what's available here though and it's basically almost everything from Europe and Asia and American brands are available in certain places. I like the beer ad posters in Chinese coffeeshops (Malaysia is 50% Malay Muslims so alcohol and beer ads can only be present in non-Malay Muslim restaurants) since they feature foxy chinese women in low cut dresses (note though that ogling such posters while accompanied by your date is servely hazardous to health and painful to wallet as per surrender terms[ ] )
Tiger beer ads in the cinemas here seem to be popular since they alwways feature a footage of a long-legged Chinese girl in a short tight dress while Carlsberg has a Danish blonde in a swimsuit, guess that's why I show up in cinema halls way before the movie starts I guess I'm droning but that comes from being a lecturer

yeah, I know Bali's in Indonesia, but I couldn't think of the name of any of the islands in Malaysia off the top of my head.[ ][ ] And the beer thing is a running gag that some of the people here find amusing, and most probably find annoying. Which I find amusing.[ ][ ]
