Anyone remember their BLSA guard duty?Is it still in use?I think it stands for Basic Load Storage Area... Hell,I have no idea.Anyway, for those of you unfamiliar with the term,it's where the 09 kept their ammo.Bunkers with big doors built into small hills. If I remember correctly,it was like a 30-45 minute drive to get there from Caserma.I did it maybe 3 times;I did manage to get Supernumerary of the Guard once, and didn't have to pull duty.

We had the same duty in Germany. In this case it was the BLSA for 3rd Bde, 3rd ID (Aschaffenburg)... When I went to PLDC in Kitzegen (sp?) we were right next to an ammo site that had nukes. Talk about security around that site!...

Man I pulled it at Bragg, Germany on MANY occasions at the Sgt of the Guard while we were there on trainin excersizes. We didnt have to pull it in Italy though.

Yup, I remember pulling it at Bragg. With a shotgun that was rumored to have the firing pin removed (never checked myself) but the five 12ga rounds were taped together and were so old that the shot packing was falling out.

Real important job.

Somehow that was one of the few Details I never had to pull in Italy. I did get stuck on the Inventory Inspection detail though. Going through counting and checking all the Ammo.
We must have DXd about 15 Dragons and a bunch of TOW Missles that got too much moisture in the cases.
