Martin, thanks for the info. When I saw references to a 5th Battalion I thought that meant that the NG SF Groups had been increased when the Reserve Groups were deactivated.

Hey martin,
I'm with A co. Quick question why is it called 5th bn instead of 3rd?. I always wondered about that. People ask what bn and when I reply i usually get a puzzled look.

I think it's because it was formed back in the late 60's-early 70's when the structure of SF groups was not as completely defined as it is now. I've actually been in the unit on three separate occasions, from 83-84, 98-02 and from Jan 03-present. All I can say for sure is that it was definitely called the 5/19th SFG when I first joined in 1983.

I don't think so. Is that somebody's name? Mine is on my profile.

Martin,
Thanks for the info.

As for the Kenova comment. I'll take a stab at it. That's in West Virgina where 2/19th is at.
