Would like to know if all you guys who have been "on the trail" treat your campaign hats with some kind of spray or protectant?

My department wears "round browns" and I am looking for some way to make them last a little longer!!

I used scotchguard AND starch on my fatigues (....why doesn't your uniform get wet Drill Sergeant?....BECAUSE I"M A SERGEANT!!!!), but not on the campaign hat, since the scotchguard could make it look blotchy and there was a plastic cover for it we could use in the rain. I would just vacuum the dust off if it got dirty. There are probably things out now that would be good though. I did put a dark cloth sweatband inside so it wouldn't stain on hot days or be noticable to anyone.

I never put the "manhole cover" in my hat but knew a lot that did. Other than put in press, never used any other treatment.
