As my OSUT ship date closes in, I've been thinking (possibly overthinking) about certain things on the back of my head. I could not get BAC in my contract cause I got in with a medical waiver and an ASVAB score of 45. The waiver puts me out entirely of getting the airborne physical before going in. But everyone and their mother tells me that once I complete OSUT, I can volunteer for BAC and have a good chance of getting it. If this is true, shouldnt I at least have a stamp on my contract saying that im jump worthy or something? If not, how hard will it be to get the airborne physical during\after OSUT?

Also, I have heard that you need to have a 50 or more in the ASVAB to be able to attend Ranger School. Is that a pre-enlistment condition or does this requirement carry on to your permanent duty station? Im not paying a lot of mind to the whole Ranger school thing as I am to the Airborne issue because since I am a permanent resident, I am going to have to wait around 2 years to be fully naturalized and then be able to enter the ranger program.

Thanx for your time guys, and yes, I am PT'ing, feeling good.

Rob

Never heard of any kind of airborne stamp on a contract like that. I guess one of the recruiters will have to answer you question. Good luck and never quit.

if you are given airborne in AIT, you will be sent to take an airborne physical. the stamp is for people who have airborne in their contract. it shows that they already had the airborne physical.

One other thing, you can not get Ranger School as an enlistment option. The only thing that is possible is RIP with the 75th Regiment as a unit of choice. Don't know what the ASVAB scores are for that.

Your recruiter should be able to pull your GT score for you...ask him what it is. If it is not at least a 110, ask about trying to raise it as a DEP, if that is possible.

Well from what I learned is you now have to be a E-5 before you can even apply for Ranger school. It used to be E-4 and a letter from your CO that he thought you were a good candidate.
