The key is getting 11 series with BAC and an airborne unit. From what I understand, particularly from recruits and recruiters here, there is no shortage of guys wanting those slots and they can be hard to get at times.

I understand what everyone says in here about sticking to your guns and holding out for what you want. That's good advice, but the guidance counselor at MEPS would have a hard time lying to anyone when it comes to what jobs are available. He punches your SSN on the screen and it will show you all the MOS you are qualified for, or available. They will try to get you what you want, but be flexible--for example, there is an 11X job, but you wouldn't leave until later this year. That's just an example. I'm not a combat arms person, but I think 19D, Cavalry Scout, would be a good MOS to have if you couldn't get 11X for some reason.
