Im back, been covered up with work and such.  Eyes, sorry I never got ahold of you ref the Christmas dinner.

And now for something completly different:  Looks Like I might join the State Guard since I would have to give up all my VA Bennies if I joined the ANG.

I'm like Irish, I find that hard to believe. Exactly what benefits would you lose?

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you, Jesus Christ and the American GI.  One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.

The only VA Benefits you could "lose" would be the Disability Pension(That I know of). They would just deduct the amount of your Military pay from that. Of course you have to be below 30% to be in the Guard so you wouldn't lose much in that regard.

Im at 50% disability, If I join the ANG and pass a PT test ect it will cancel out all my disability, and I will have to pay back the severence pay I got when I left AD.  8 years of guard drills for free plus losing my rateing just does not pass the common sense test to me.  State Guard is a Vol org that does have a mission at present, and lets me serve in some way, but under the VA radar.

Psywar, not wanting to sound like a smart ass but are you in Bogota Columbia or Bogota New Jersey?  I am guessing Columbia being that you work for the International Bureau for Narcotics Law Enforcement.  But I thought I would ask any way.

Now it makes sense. The only thing I don't understand is why you thought you could have served in the Guard or Reserve if you have a rated service-connected disability. Since the Guard and Reserve are largely governed by DOD in as far as eligibility to serve then no you can't be in the Guard and Reserve and receive a 50% disability pension just like you can't go back on active duty(unless you are TRDL and you recover from the disability). Your state guard is totally governed by your state and their requirements can be totally different and would not have anything to do with your VA disability.
