Well by the grace of God and through his divine favor, I was commissioned as a 2LT on Wednesday as a Chaplain Candidate in the MN Army National Guard. My grandfather (WW2, Korea) and wife (leg) pinned me and thus a two year season in my life has ended. I can't share with you the jubilation I felt and while it was an awesome day, I can't say it was "unbelivable", because with God, ALL things are possible, and I had put my faith in Him for the needed results.
I had quite a few people I respect ask if I was crazy - I was an E7, on the fast track, and their comments ranged from "you've lost your mind" to "Chaplain!?". I'm not walking away from 15 years of enlisted service, I'm walking into the next phase of my life and pursuing God's plan, not my own. My own efforts have proven fruitless in my life, and His plans are to prosper us and give us an expected end! (Jer 29:11). [thumbUp]
This has been one of the more intense tests of my life, along the lines of "counting it all joy" in James 1:2. I like what the Message translation says, "consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides." This experience was a putting to proof of what I believed through a trial of adversity. God gets all the glory, I just did what I knew to be right, and I am very excited about serving soldiers in this new capacity. Thank you all for your kind words of support and encouragment!

Congratulations, sir.
Go with God, but make Him walk the point.
If you load a mudfoot down with a lot of gadgets he has to watch somebody a lot more simply equipped - say with a stone axe - will sneak up and bash his head in while he is trying to read a Vernier. - Robert Heinlein
