For all Chicagoland and Midwest Vets; The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall will be in Wheaton, IL at Central Park (Northeast corner of Roosevelt Rd. and Main St.) From 1- 6 July. If you can not or have not made it to the one in DC, then I HIGHLY recommend that you come and visit. Even if you have been to the real one, this one has the same emotional impact.

I attended the opening ceremonies last night as part of the American Legion color guard. Something kept getting in my eye, especially when they introduced the Gold Star Mothers.

If anyone needs directions please send me an e-mail. I live within walking distance of the park (1/2 block), so I can provide whatever assistance, anyone who wants to visit may need, send me an E-mail and let me know you're coming.

When they refer to it as "moving", it has nothing to do with being mobile.

To the Mods. I wasn't sure were to put this, please move it to whereever you think it belongs/will get seen the most.

Thanks,
Dave

I just got an e-mail from my Dad, a Viet Nam vet. He saw the wall in El Paso, and was very moved from seeing it. He found the names of men he served with; I'm pretty sure he cried, and he's not that emotional of a man. I've been to the wall in D.C. It touches you to your soul.
