I got out after busting up my back on a jump. I got out on a medical with an RE code 3. If I were looking at trying to get back in, how difficult is it to get a waiver for that? Are we talking 1 out of 10, 1 out of 100, etc? Also, I got out as an E-5 in January '02, with my break in service, what rank would I have to come back in as?

Well, I know times have changed since the 80's, but I got out in '81 with an RE-3 due to a knee injury, and I was able to get into the Guard in '83 and onto active duty in '86. Both times all I needed was a medical consultation to prove that my knee was no longer injured. I'm guessing it would depend on how hard your recruiter wants to work to get you in and whether you can prove that you are completely healed up.

Like FDC said, it shouldnt be that bad. Just go to your doctor and get all the documents that say your back is G To G (Good to Go just incase your wondering). With a RE3 you have to wait 2 yrs if Im not mistaken. Good Luck.
